ICONIC SOULS
Capture the atmospheric soul of a Provincetown evening with "Anybody's Bar," a signature work from artist Marshal Walden's Curbing Art. This piece is a distilled study of a local interior, with a look through exploration the structural artistry featuring the iconic yellow umbrellas and Edison style string lighting.
THE SCENE
The composition highlights a deep indigo summer evening sky that serves as a dramatic backdrop to the warm, golden glow of globe lights within the bar. Through the windows, the viewer is invited into a meditative space featuring a unique boat-shaped bar, a sailboat ship-style wheel, and a vacant table for two. By "curbing" the surrounding visual noise, the focus remains on the architectural essence and the peaceful, solitary beauty of the venue.
ARTIST NOTE
With "Anybody's Bar," my focus was to explore the concept of "cozy shelter" against the expansive coastal night. In my Curbing Art philosophy, I aim to strip away the transient bustle of Provincetown to reveal the enduring structural artistry of its spaces.
The contrast between the deep indigo of the summer sky and the warm interior lights represents that moment of quiet contemplation you find at the end of a day on the Outer Cape. By showcasing the maritime details, with the boat-shaped bar and the ship's wheel, I wanted to celebrate the nautical heritage that is woven into the town's architectural soul.
This hand-signed, limited edition print is an invitation to step out of the evening air and find a moment of stillness in the light.
