Curbing Art
In a world filled with visual noise, there is power in the edit. My work is centered on the act of "curbing" the disciplined removal of secondary details to reveal the structural soul of a subject.
I don't aim to paint a house or a horizon, I aim to paint the quiet strength that remains once the distractions are stripped away.
Provincetown, distilled.
Inspired by the tip of Cape Cod, I find my subjects in the geometry of Provincetown. The shifting light, the sharp gables of the East & West Ends, and the vast, negative space of the dunes serve as my inspiration.
Using a refined watercolor palette, I work to capture the architectural forms of Provincetown. Each watercolor is a study in presence, and a visual record of what it feels like to stand at lands end and truly see.

Distilling a painting on heavyweight watercolor paper using generous amounts water and a restrained palette of indigo blues and warm yellows to shape the first layer of subtle details.
The Practice
My process is one of high-functioning presence. Whether working in the studio or out in the town finding inspiration, the goal is to balance technical precision with a practiced stillness.
This "mindful daily life" is reflected in the work of flowing colors, intentional washes, and a focus on the atmospheric tension between shadow and light.Â
Community
I am a visual artist specializing in Provincetown inspired watercolor studies. As a member of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) and a annual exhibitor at The Provincetown Commons, my work is part of a long lineage of artists who have chased the unique light at the tip of Cape Cod.
My original works and giclée reproductions can be found locally at Botanica on Commercial Street or here via my Curbing Art online studio.
